What role does the Examining Board play in assessing Residential Electricians (REs) and Residential Wiremen (RWs) for Journeyman-level classification?
The Examining Board evaluates Residential Electricians (REs) and Residential Wiremen (RWs) seeking to upgrade to Journeyman Wireman status. This process includes verifying work experience, reviewing training records, and administering written and/or practical examinations. Members may also be required to complete additional coursework or on-the-job training through the NJATC Upgrade Program before being approved for reclassification.

How often does the Examining Board meet, and what does it do?
The Examining Board meets at least once per quarter to review and test applicants for membership. It examines their qualifications, administers written or practical tests when necessary, and reports results to the Executive Board and the Local Union.

What happens if a member fails an examination by the Examining Board?
If a member or applicant fails an examination administered by the Examining Board, they may be required to undergo additional training or gain further experience before being eligible to retake the test. The Board reports examination results to the Executive Board and the Local Union, which determines the next steps.
