What are the primary responsibilities of the Vice President of Local 26?

The Vice President assists the President in overseeing union meetings, ensures adherence to the IBEW Constitution and Local 26 Bylaws, and performs any additional duties assigned by the Executive Board or President. The Vice President also steps in to perform the duties of the President in their absence.

Does the Vice President have a role in the referral and hiring process?

While the Business Manager and Referral Office handle job referrals, the Vice President ensures that hiring procedures remain fair and in line with union agreements. The Vice President may also be involved in addressing referral disputes through the Executive Board or Appeals Committee.

Is the Vice President a member of the Executive Board?

Yes, the Vice President is a member of the Executive Board and participates in decision-making related to union governance, financial oversight, and enforcement of labor agreements. However, the Vice President does not have voting power in case of a tie unless specifically designated by the bylaws.

Assistant to the President

The Vice President plays a crucial supporting role in the Local Union's leadership by assisting the President and stepping into their role when needed. This position is responsible for providing oversight of union affairs and ensuring the proper execution of policies and decisions made by the Executive Board.
