Kyle McMillan
Examining Board
Brothers and Sisters,
Union values run deep in my family. My grandmother was a seamstress and proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. My father served as an EMT and was a member of AFSCME, and my mother was a member of the Transportation Workers Union of America. Growing up surrounded by union members taught me the value of solidarity, representation, and the dignity of work.
I joined IBEW Local 26 in 2002 through the Inside Wireman Apprenticeship Program. In 2016, I was honored to be invited to join the Local 26 staff as an Organizer—a role that gave me firsthand insight into how we build and protect the future of our trade. In 2022, I was elected to the Examining Board, where I’ve been proud to help maintain the standards and pathways that define what it means to be a Journeyman Wireman.
Over the years, I’ve seen how other locals across the country limit advancement to only those who go through the apprenticeship. But Local 26 is different—we provide an additional path for qualified members to earn the Journeyman Wireman classification through dedication, skill, and experience. I believe that everyone who puts in the work and commits to the trade deserves that opportunity.
I’m running for re-election to the Examining Board because I want to continue helping our members grow, advance, and retire with the pride and benefits that come with the title of Journeyman Wireman. I respectfully ask for your vote and the chance to continue this important work.
Fraternally,
Kyle McMillan
