Adam Boles
Examining Board
Brothers and Sisters,
I’ve been a proud member of IBEW Local 26 since 2005 and graduated from the apprenticeship program in 2011. I was honored to be hired as a Business Agent by Brother George Hogan in March 2022, and later that year, I was elected to the Virginia State Building and Construction Trades Executive Council. These roles have allowed me to give back to the Local that shaped my career and to advocate for the members I’m proud to stand beside.
My journey to this trade started long before I ever pulled my first wire. My mother is a retired member of the United Food and Commercial Workers, and my father, Jerry Boles, retired as the International President of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. Growing up, our family vacations were spent at Ute Lake in eastern New Mexico, where BRS Local 161 would host their annual meetings. Some of my earliest memories are of union members sharing concerns, swapping stories, and proudly bragging about their families. In our household, it was never a question of whether I would join a union—but rather, which union it would be.
A chance encounter with Brother Jerry Lewis in Winchester set me on the path to the IBEW. Years later, stepping into the very Business Agent position once held by the man who brought me into the Local was a full-circle moment I’ll always carry with pride.
In addition to my training as a Journeyman Wireman, I bring a background in computer programming, database design, BIM, and CAD—skills that have allowed us to move beyond traditional methods and into a new era of union strategy. We’ve built custom software solutions, refined billions of rows of data, and applied those insights directly to negotiations that shape our future. We've also developed innovative systems to rapidly mobilize our membership in response to an ever-changing political and industry landscape. While the data center sector remains my primary focus due to the territory I cover, the knowledge and tools we’ve built are designed to strengthen every corner of our jurisdiction—from industrial and commercial work to public sector and beyond. This is only the beginning of what’s possible when we blend experience with innovation.
I’m running for the Examining Board because I believe in upholding the high standards of our trade and providing fair and consistent evaluations to ensure that every member is set up for success. Everyone deserves to have the memory of the day they became a Local 26 Journeyman Wireman—earned, respected, and never forgotten. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote.
Fraternally,
Adam Boles
